Books for Kinders is a signature program of the Rotary Club of Sahuarita to promote literacy and early childhood education. Grandpa Gardner is the author of "What a Seed Needs to Know" and a member of the Club. Over the past 3 years, through a Rotary District 5500 Grant and matching funds from our Club, we have been able to distribute almost 1,500 copies of the book to every child in Kindergarten. The first year, the book was in English only. The past two years (and this year upcoming) the book is bilingual English and Spanish. Each Kinder receives a copy of the book, a tote, a 12-pack of Crayola color pencils , and a write-and-draw your own Garden Story. This year each Kinder classroom will also receive a "Root View". During this school year, a member of the Rotary Club will read the book in all Kinder classrooms in Sahuarita and Continental in English and Spanish.
